I agree with some comments on the interference. I can not use the AUX in all – became a hiss, which seems to correspond to acceleration / deceleration car! FM transmission is ok, but not much. Can not find the channel rather than a static level.
Another complaint – when connected, is here to stay. So it is better to be safe before the merger! Wharf is part of the lighter now so close that I can not escape. Search for a truck to go to my husband during the trip – he thought that the console will rip right out of the car! In the end, abandoned, fearing that I will break or skydock my car.
Excellent idea and the application works very well. require specific improvements to the interference of sound. Maybe a filter?

XM SkyDock Review
I purchased this to replace an in-dash XM Radio/GPS/Stereo unit that was stolen from my F-150 pickup truck. After researching a number of options, I decided the Skydock was the best bet for me so I went ahead an purchased it. The installation of the antenna took some time because I made the effort to put the antenna wire under the molding along the dash and string it so that it was secure and hidden as much as possible. I did find that I barely had enough wire to get the antenna connection to where I wanted my Skydock to be located. If I had more wire, I would have run the wire differently than I did but, for most vehicles, the length of antenna wire should be OK. The actual Skydock unit itself works great, although it does not work well with anything other than the thinnest of cases. The answer to that might be the pass-through plug from CableJive. The unit itself and the iPhone XM Skydock app appear to be well thought out and very easy to operate, allowing you to directly select stations by number, to select by category or to save up to 12 favorites that you can tune to with the touch of your finger. The Skydock appears to be relatively sturdy and seems to be holding up well in a relatively rough riding pickup truck. All in all, I am very happy with the XM Skydock and would recommend it to others.

Word of Caution-Beware of the return policy
I will begin by saying I have purchased six different XM radios over the years. My advice is when your radio works, everything is great. Two of my previous radios needed replacement within the first month. The most important factor when buying a XM radio is the ease of return. My last radio I bought from XM directly and I had to return it for a new one because of a faulty power connection. After numerous calls to XM support I received a replacement. Guess what! They continued charging me monthly for two radios (the one I returned and the one they replaced it with). After a few more calls to India they removed the returned items. If you buy directly from XM, the returns of faulty equiptment is easy once you get them to understand what your saying. I find that Speaking VERY slow helps. This bring me to the XM Skydock. Although I purchase most items from Amazon, I knew better than with the XM Skydock. I puchased it from Walmart. Why? Because it is easy to exchange and get a new one when your radio fails. Plus it is much cheaper than direct from XM. Assume that it will fail. Mine lasted three weeks and then it started to dock and undock with a loose connection. So after five calls to XM in India this morning, I received five different fixes. One XM tech support lady incorrectly told me that I needed to keep the iphone docked atleast EIGHT hours every day to make sure it works properly. That would fix everything. I told her my commute was only less than an hour everyday and therefore I couldnot keep it in the dock for that long. She responded with telling me to dock it at home for eight hours. AHHHHH. I told it only plugs into the car outlet. Remember this was tech support, not the sales folks. I asked to speak to her manager and after ten minutes on hold, she hung up on me. So I called back going thru three layers of support each asking me my contact info, over and over again. This time the I asked a different tech person for a manager and she refused to get one and tried to help me directly. She confirmed it sounded like bad unit and said I should contact Audiovox for a replacement. I called the Audiovox number she provided and reached customer support and Audiovox told me I had to call another number. Surprise Surprise, that number was back to XM!!! Now thru three more layers of contact information interegations the tech support said they could not help me since I did not purchase it with them. I would have to take it back to Walmart (which I new I would be doing anyway). Odd that in the Skydock packaging it says to only return thru XM not the retailer. So I will return and reorder one at Walmart today. Off course I do not look forward to the charge to switch radios. And the constant monitoring of my account for additional charges.
XM would be awesome if they move their call center to the US. But when XM can hire 6 indian workers for cost of 1 us worker, they accept the lower quality service. However, XM please think about quality versus quantity. Maybe your share price would rise if you fix this customer service issue.

Good, but could be better
The Sky Dock for the ipod touch is a relatively good design. I could see how it could get in the way of some dashboard controls on some vehicles, but it fit well in mine. The problem is I have to keep the ashtray lid open to use it. Hook-up was straight-forward, but snaking the antenna lead through the car was a pain. They need to provide a longer cable or a through-the-glass system to facilitate easier antenna mounting.
Once the Sky Dock came to life it took a while to come on-line thru XM, but it operates well once signal is obtained. The nice feature is that you can not only listen to XM, but you can also listen to your ipod tunes as well through the Sky Dock. Quibbles – 1)the ipod goes blank after a while, so you have to wake it up to see what’s playing – this could be a distraction. 2)in my vehicle there is a low-level whine in the background with the engine running. It is only noticeable at low music volumes, and may be a problem with just my vehicle, but beware. There is no whining noise when I run the ipod straight into the auxiliary input on battery power.

Best XM Radio I have seen
The SkyDock is great in several ways. Installation is a breeze. Setup is done right through the iPhone while attached to the dock. The FM modulater works really well and you can use it for speaker phone or to play your iPod app through your car speakers. The favorite channel screen is also great as is song tagging. You can also setup alerts that will notify you if your team has a game being broadcast.
The only possible negative is, depending on the location of your 12V socket, it could be in the way of other controls or awkward to use.

I got this to replace a SkyFi3 XM unit. WOW what an improvement! They must have changed the 12VDC plug because I had NO problem putting it in the socket in my ’08 F-350. There is a small ring near the tip of the power plug that I was worried about until I discovered it was pliable. Not soft like an ear bud. More of a hard rubber. Same with the pieces of the same material on the barrel of the plug. Snug fit and I did not have an trouble turning it to get the correct angle in relation to the dash.
The antenna connector was the same as the one for my SkyFi3 so installation took all of 3 minutes. Phoned up XM and within 15 minutes I was listening to XM Radio via my iPod with the SkyDock. I used the AUX in on my radio so I can not comment on the FM transmitter. You do have to manually turn it off if you do not want to use it as it is on by default.
The app interface is very nice. With the iPod in widescreen orientation I can see the full artist and song names. When you “swipe” side-to-side to get another channel it has a small window that tells you the channel and the song currently on that channel. (Something the old SkyFi3 couldn’t do) Tap the window and it tunes. That is another plus, the tuning is super fast compared to other satellite radios.

Wasn’t sure at first….
I was very iffy about buying a product for which I would need an Itunes application. My concerns were unfounded because the Skydock was ALL I needed to be able to listen to XM/Sirius radio in my 4Runner. I can easily remove my Ipod touch from my vehicle whenever I park somewhere I’m not comfortable leaving something valuable in my vehicle. I’m constantly on the road and since I already had an Ipod touch, the only thing left to buy was the Skydock! It is very simple to use and you can save your favorite stations, as well as tag a song that you like for future purchase (love that feature). In my opinion, a GREAT buy. Granted, I wasn’t too happy with the antenna wires being by my feet (looked messy) until a friend of mine who works at Best Buy did a professional job of hiding ALL the wires in the side panels and I can’t even tell where any of the wires are!
Anyway, it’s a great purchase, and I’d highly recommend this product.
