Looking at a recent PC magazine I came across the Asus EeePC – looking at the pictures I saw something I wanted for some time. A small laptop, a cheap price, which seems particularly suited to the Internet on the move.

The EeePC is pronounced e-PC – which is supposed to rest easy three points – easy to learn, easy to work and easy to play. I think the original idea was to do something to reach for many students, including and families.

What attracted me to the device is portability was evident. Measuring 225 x 165 x 21 mm is tiny compared to any other laptop. It has a solid state hard drive robust enough that you can strike and strike without damage. With three hours of battery life and a mobile phone charger size makes it very portable.

Of course, as with any relatively new gadget is the high demand and quite difficult to take an age. They come in different colors. My preference was black and I guess it was the same for most people because it was completely sold out. At the end I settled for blue.

After pressing the power button on the wait time is minimal. I’d say about 20 to 30 seconds. It is strange that the computer is quiet, when the boot. Somehow, expect to hear the hard drives will spin and the fan. Peering into the 7-inch screen is surprisingly easy, even though I suppose it could be annoying depending on what you’re trying to accomplish. However, until now, only for MSN, email and surf the Web, it is absolutely right.

More surprising is the keyboard. Of course, it is relatively small, but it’s pretty easy to write. I think after a small amount of adjustment should be relatively easy to write. Ok not want to write a novel full of it, but for messages, blogs, short articles, etc – pretty well.

While it is difficult to think of this little gadget like this, this machine is a fully functional PC. This means that you can do almost everything you can a normal PC. It comes with a Linux system based on it. This is open source and after a couple of minor changes, there are literally thousands of free applications that can be launched in this regard. The main screen is easy to navigate around to give clear icons as “Internet” or “email” and “messenger” if you really do not need to be a geek to work his way. However, if desired, the machine is powerful enough to run XP on it if you need.

With Wi-Fi Internet connection is easy. A webcam, microphone and speakers allow easy communication. You also have USB ports and a flash memory slot for an additional 32 GB of storage above 4 GB included in the machine. To me it means I can have in this team and take it anywhere where there is a wireless network to connect to, I can connect using my 3G data card. That means you can be anywhere on the Internet, without what we now consider a bulky item like a laptop. Even fits in the glove compartment of your vehicle or in a handbag!

When you open the EeePC will void the warranty – this system is scalable. There are a number of changes or updates that you can do to make your EeePC unique and super fast. Because the software is open source, can be modified to do almost everything you need.

I think this machine will be a great success and pave the way for true mobile computing. I just paid 250 pounds (about 0) for the 4GB model. It was a 2GB model for £ 200 and I have heard rumors that Asus has managed to move the speakers to a larger screen in a future model.
